I just saw my new favorite movie Avatar for the second time, this time in 2D.
Again it was brilliant and I had 160 wonderful minutes. More than that, because now my head is filled with the beautiful images of Pandora, the songs of the Na'vi and the spirit of Eywa, and that will last for a while.
I could not really say what the difference between the two versions is, but 2D somehow just looks "flat". However, I guess that only is noticeable when you know the 3D-version.
At last, I know now for sure that I won't tire anytime soon to watch this movie over and over again.
Kìyeváme!

So, guess what!
Another forced hiatus.
:P
Hopefully not for very long, but my apartment building's water heater exploded and dumped a ton of hot water into my apartment and cooked everything. Or rather, just ruined the cabinets and flooring and some personal belongings. I'm temporarily homeless and all of my supplies and my art computer are in the apartment still. I think the computer was safe, as it wasn't on the floor (close to it, but not on it)
They're replacing everything and I'm staying with friends until everything's fixed up. They were hoping to have it done by the time I was back in Texas (yesterday) but they're not even close. I didn't expect they would be, last week was a bad time to try to get anything like that done.
So, yeah. I'll be still sketching and inking comics but I won't be able to scan, color, post, until I'm back home.
... Sorry. I seem to have unfortunate luck at times.

This is what
pixel_0 got for Christmas from me this year, and I have her permission to post it here in public :D Alligator Jazz is a story set in the 1930s which
pixel_0 and I have been plotting for the past few weeks. She writes it, though, and because I keep pestering her about sending me new excerpts to read I figured it'd be fair if I attempted some artwork for it.
Oddly enough, painting the radio took me way, way longer than painting the guys. Go figure. I'm really happy with how these turned out. I'm also using less and less layers in Photoshop--success!

All in all I think it's fair to say that apart from travelling and books, the graphic tablet was definitely the money best spent in the past five years. Yay.

This is a little Meme I decided to create today, because I was in the mood to tell you something. I think I will do it again in some days.
Feel free to snatch it and answer it in your own Journal if you like.
So take one of your favorite TV-Series and tell us:

Merry Christmas to all of you.
The message of course is peace on Earth.
And I wish we had it.

What happens when you eat too much on Christmas Eve and have a bit too much of mint Baileys talking to a little glass of red wine? You have weird dreams. The chance for that surely increases when your friend keeps telling you what kind of spices etc. can make you see weird stuff ... and when you fall asleep while watching the David Garrett DVD.
The result? David Garrett (or perhaps his twin Damien) can shapeshift into a bundle of green plastic straws. Instead of playing the violin he invented a strange machine for a contest (one more proof that it most likely was not David but Damien ... or perhaps their triplet Dorien). That didn't matter much, because he was really nice, and we had quite some fun flirting with each other :)
As usual I didn't remember much of the dream when I woke up, but I still knew enough to have several laughing fits.
By the way ... my cats don't seem to like David's music very much. They look kind of nervous right now, but perhaps it's just a bit too loud for their taste.

In the Dragcave is Christmas to. TJ has released the new breed and so the hunt has began anew. I decided to get up at 6 a.m. in our time (which is midnight across the atlantic) and had look, I got my two from the first clutch of eggs.
After all, I used my trick, figured out at Halloween. so here there are:
2009 yet unnamed breed:

2008 breed, called "Yulebucks":

2007 breed, called "Hollies":
And the Rest in the Nest (grow up little ones):

Head Trip - Christmas Fan Service
I'm in Memphis visiting family! Flew in this morning to surprise them. I'll be back Saturday but due to... a surprise emergency involving my apartment Monday's comic might be a bit delayed. But I've already got it sketched up so even on Christmas I'm not slackin' off. ;)
Have a good holiday, you guys.
